It is 3:30 am Saturday morning and I just returned from the movie theater located less than a block away from my apartment. With thirty minuets to kill after buying my preassigned seating ticket, I decided to look around for something to eat which didn't take long. I ended up in a huge food court several minuets later located on the second floor. There was an ice creme place similar to Baskin Ribins, a McDonalds, Seafood, Italian, a Subway comparable, and a Argentine semi fast food "steak" place. I couldn't resist being able to have a tender rib eye steak, French fries and a coke at the movies theater for 22 pesos, around $7.30 us. They gave me metal silverware for a 2 peso deposit that was refunded after they were returned to that same restaurant as the dinning area was common to all the restaurants. Below is my tender rib eye being set on my tray.
To top it all off, my steak was grilled over a bed of red hot "wood embers". Below, is the cook taking the embers from the metal box on the left with a small shovel and then spreading them out under the grill.
This was probably one of my most interesting experiences, as I went only after learning that most of the movies played are in English with Spanish subtitles. You would think it would be the other way around as almost no English is spoken here. I seen Antes, which started at 1:00 am staring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, who happen to be some of my favorite actors. It ended up being in my opinion an excellent movie, especially for the 17 peso ticket/$6.00 us. This place was more than impressive with its immaculate 5 story building and sixteen different movies playing. The sound was better than expected and the seats were even better with there high backs and plush cushions.
There are 12 people behind windows that sale tickets for the 16 different movie screens.
What a shock, to see all this at a South American movie theater.
