Jumbo Movie Theater

It is 3:30 am Saturday morning and I just returned from the movie theater located less than a block away from my apartment. With thirty minuets to kill after buying my preassigned seating ticket, I decided to look around for something to eat which didn't take long. I ended up in a huge food court several minuets later located on the second floor. There was an ice creme place similar to Baskin Ribins, a McDonalds, Seafood, Italian, a Subway comparable, and a Argentine semi fast food "steak" place. I couldn't resist being able to have a tender rib eye steak, French fries and a coke at the movies theater for 22 pesos, around $7.30 us. They gave me metal silverware for a 2 peso deposit that was refunded after they were returned to that same restaurant as the dinning area was common to all the restaurants. Below is my tender rib eye being set on my tray.

To top it all off, my steak was grilled over a bed of red hot "wood embers". Below, is the cook taking the embers from the metal box on the left with a small shovel and then spreading them out under the grill.

This was probably one of my most interesting experiences, as I went only after learning that most of the movies played are in English with Spanish subtitles. You would think it would be the other way around as almost no English is spoken here. I seen Antes, which started at 1:00 am staring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, who happen to be some of my favorite actors. It ended up being in my opinion an excellent movie, especially for the 17 peso ticket/$6.00 us. This place was more than impressive with its immaculate 5 story building and sixteen different movies playing. The sound was better than expected and the seats were even better with there high backs and plush cushions.

There are 12 people behind windows that sale tickets for the 16 different movie screens.
What a shock, to see all this at a South American movie theater.

Mini Market

Here is a simple but neat little market located around the corner from my apartment.

Here are a few more cool little fruit stands on the next block over.

Pizza

My mozzarella, ham and pineapple pizza being cooked in this old stone oven.

The pizzas in B.A. are quit different, but are still very good. They defiantly weren't afraid to use the mozzarella.

This little shop had 4 guys buzzing around the neighborhood delivering pizzas on roller blades.

Cool Restaurants

Here are a few photos of some neat restaurants getting ready for the long night. These big slabs of meat take several hours to cook by this small wood fire.

This restaurants booths are like stables, which was ironic as I ate like a horse. The lights hang from old steel pulleys that hang on an old barn hay loading track.

This place specialized in lamb and goat which is supposed to be very good.

Second Apartment

View of the street from the balcony.

Check out the Ariston washer/dryer combo along side the rest of the appliances.

The Ariston certainly makes short work of my laundry, clothes go in dirty then come out clean and "dry" in a all in one unit. Stopped by the hole in the wall supermarket for a "Bag" of Ace laundry detergent.

On the left is where shit happens, and on the right is where you will burn the "****" out of your ass if the H2O isn't set just rite.

The neighbor across the street and one floor up from me, lets there dog out on the balcony several times a day just so it can bark. Ive tried just about every thing in the book to get it to stop and now the thing barks continuously wile looking directly at "my" apartment. Luckily I'm going back to my original apartment on Monday, I may try the ground beef and sleeping pill or pills trick. Look at that f****r staring me down.

I sat on the Kodak wile it was in my back pocket, cracking the display lens enabling my to zoom or even see what I'm shooting, which sucks as it was less than two weeks old. I originally bought it for $99.00 in the states, and just found an exact replacement here in B.A. for $240.00 us. I'm gonna try to deal with it, until I can back home to see Sam. For some reason, electronics are one of the few things that are very expensive here.

Oldest Church In B.A.

The San Ignacio church was built in 1686, which shows many signs of its age. I was unable to photograph the inside, as mid day services were being held. Just about every person that walked by, did the sign of the cross. Not the greatest photo as my cameras viewer is cracked, which leaves me now way to see what I'm shooting.

McDonald's

I just got back from my first trip to McDonald's since Ive been in B.A., and have a few photos of my breakfast that I would like to share you you.

This is one of the two kinds of breakfast sandwiches they serve, which is a feather weight compared to the 600 plus calorie stake bagel and hash browns I'm used to eating back in the states. 5.5 pesos is what the meal cost, consisting of this little ham and cheese, with your choice of coffee, milk or hot tea.
